Website Valuation - something to add to the total

Thursday, February 8th, 2007

At the moment valuations of websites are very low for the value they can bring. One of the considerations you have in arriving at a valuation is how much revenue you could add to the site. There many things you could add to an under developed site such as the obvious adsense but one check I like to do is to see the rate that text link brokers such as text-link-ads.com place on the site.

To do this create a dummy account on their site as it does not seem possible to delete sites you add to your list. So if you use your normal account it will become full of these tests.

I like to test out single page adverts on the home page and other pages with good pr. For a good site in a good market you may be able to sell 3-6 adverts quickly to add to the monthly revenue.

Free replacement for inventory.overture.com

Monday, February 5th, 2007

When inventory.overture.com the free keyword research tool died people thought the world of free keyword research had ended. Stepping in to fill the vacuum are the people at wordtracker who have create a free tool that is delivers 100 keywords in a very fast and friendly interface.

It even has lots of options to add the tool to your browser or bookmark it.

See Free Keyword Suggestion Tool from Wordtracker

Thanks to Ed Dale for pointing that out on his great blog the tubbynerd.

Where to sell your website

Friday, January 26th, 2007

Welcome to the first post on selling (and buying) your website.

There are a vast number of different places to buy or sell your website.

If you are just starting out there are several auction and announcement type sites that are great initial places to visit.

I’ll give some feedback on each of these sites in later posts but for now here is a quick list.
